Some people like being alone;Others are happy when they are with a crowd of people
Some people like being alone; others are happiest when they are with a crowd of people. Which do you prefer?
When I’m alone, I feel like I can’t do anything much. I can’t relate my problems or feelings to anyone. It feels like a sense of depression. I will feel sad too except when I’m want to study and need to be alone. But is being alone really that bad? Would it make me feel happy? I shall tell more about it in the next few paragraphs.
Firstly, being alone isn’t really that bad. It helps me to relax and enjoy the surroundings around me. I can have a quiet moment alone. I can also reflect back on the memories that I have been through all the year or from my childhood. When I’m alone, I can be focus on studying and concentrating on the key points that teachers have taught me in different subjects. I also do my homework peacefully without having people to disturb me.
Secondly, when I’m alone either at home or in school, I sit in a corner probably be doing my homework or revisions. In class, I sit at the side of the classroom near the window. I feel that my seat is quite good as I can do my work and look out of the window to view the trees or buildings. This helps to relax my eyes. It’s not that I don’t want to socialize with with my classmates. I usually hate noise and will get distracted easily. I just feel that I can’t really talk to them as I don’t know what to say to them. It just feels so difficult for me and I don’t know why. I guess I need know them much better before socialize or even talking to them.
Some people may say that being happy with a crowd of people feels much better than being alone. They either are with their group of friends or classmates. When they are with them, they talk and also share their problems with their friends. They also have fun together like going out shopping or watching the movies. They also study together and share knowledge between themselves. This may help them relieve stress that they face each day at school or doing homework.
Being with a crowd of people helps to strengthen the friendship between them and they will feel happy that way. Seen in this way, I do not have to be alone to feel happy although I really prefer it better than being with a crowd of people.Even if I’m with a crowd of people, I can feel happy too and at the same time make friends.Being with a crowd of people is good too.In conclusion, I prefer being alone to being with a crowd of people. It's better for me.

My Favourite Food
My Favourite Food
Definitely it has to be chocolates. I am a fan of chocolates. Chocolates are my favourite food on earth. I can’t resist the taste of chocolates that melts in my mouth. They are simply heaven. There are different types of chocolates ranging from dark to white or semi-sweet. I prefer white to dark chocolates as it taste a lot nicer. I especially like the brand Cadbury as the taste of the chocolates are really magnificent. I can’t survive a day without eating a small bite of the chocolates I bought. I know it’s not healthy to eat chocolates everyday but I can’t resist it….hehe:)
Letter to ex-teacher
Letter to ex-teacher
Dear Mdm Jean Tan,
How are you? It has been a long time since I last saw you in Secondary one. I am now in Secondary four. How time flies? I will be taking my ‘O’ levels this year. Wish me good luck, okay? My reason for writing this letter is because I want to share with you about the changes that I have experienced since school re-opened in 2008.
Firstly, I am grateful that I have been promoted to Secondary four and will be taking my ‘O’ levels this year. I would like to thank the teachers for helping me all this while. I also would like to thank you for teaching me Mathematics in Secondary one although it was only for a short period of time. I really appreciate it a lot.
Since the school re-opened in 2008, the school has been painted nicely with different colours like brown and blue. The toilets have also been equipped with fans. This helps the students to use the toilets without having to complain that the toilet is stuffy.
Secondly, the school uniform had been changed a little. The students would not have to pin on the school badge on the left side of the collar anymore because the school has given the students an iron-on badge of the school crest. The iron-on school crest is to be ironed on to the left side of the uniform, above the school’s name. These changes have been made because the school wants the public to better differentiate the students of KentRidge Secondary School from other secondary schools in the neighbourhood that have school uniforms of similar colour scheme.
The school timetable has also been changed. Students are required to assemble in the Parade Square or the School Hall by 7.25am daily. It is different from the last few years where students have to assemble by 7.15am. On Thursdays, students are to report to school by 8.30am because the teachers have a Staff contact and Dialogue Session every Thursday mornings from 7.30-8.30am. I am quite thankful that the school starts late on Thursdays because I can sleep later on Wednesday nights as I will be doing my homework at night. In the evening, I will be resting for a while and spending time with my family after a long day of going to school, remedials or house practices. The Secondary fours have remedial everyday after school.
Lastly, I would like to say that I feel very appreciative with what the school has done for the students’ well being. I am also hoping that you can come back and visit me as well as the rest of the Secondary four students. If you have time, do please write back to me. I will be waiting for your letter.
Yours sincerely,
KHALIESAH

MY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
MY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IN 2008
I think the first thing I remember was that I felt nervous going to a new school. KentRidge was my first choice because my elder brother was studying there and my cousin too. I got to know some new friends and teachers like Mr Koh, the PE teacher.
I woke up early in the morning, bathed and went to school with my primary school friend. We took the bus together. I was feeling nervous but excited at the same time. When we reached school, we went straight to the hall and sat down. My friend was in a different class. I sat in the hall and waited for flag-raising. I didn’t bring a storybook because I didn’t know I need to. My teacher told me to bring a storybook next time for morning assembly. I quickly took note of it by writing in my own diary that I brought along with me.
After flag-raising, the principal gave a talk and some of the teachers introduced themselves like Mr Koh and Mrs June Siew. Then, we went to our classroom with a councilor leading my class. My classmates and I waited outside the classroom until our teacher came. We had to sit in our register number so that it’s easier for the teacher to know us. My form teacher was Mdm Wong who teaches my class D&T lessons. I had to fill up a form about my personal particulars and pay the student handbook which costs about $3.
Then, it was recess. I didn’t know whom to go with so I decided to go to the canteen alone. There were many people at the canteen. I felt afraid but I saw my cousin and it made me feel relieved. I went to her and say ‘HELLO’. She was in Secondary two then. Her name is Nur Diniy.
After recess, I had to go to the hall. The councilors made the Secondary one students play some ice-breaking games. I got to know some of my classmates well after playing the games. Then, the councilors took my class and the rest of the Secondary one classes around the school. Up and down we went in two lines, getting to know and familiarize ourselves with the school. The councilors taught us how to dance the ‘mass dance’ for the Secondary One orientation camp. After awhile, it was time to go home. I went home quickly and took a rest.
